Being slightly pedantic, wouldn't the affect be the same throughout
the year
- that the temperature when the door is open would "tend towards"
the
ambient temperature outside - so there may be no drop in summer but could
perhaps in fact have a rise in temp instead... though the closer the inside
temperature is to the outside temp, the less "tending" that could
be
detected -- ie on a warm day of 19C there may well be genuine equilibria
between inside & out even with all windows & doors closed...  In
which case
the sensitivity of sensors would play a more significant part.

I suspect humans tend to sense "door open" conditions more by
sensing air
movement (draughts) than temp change.  Or maybe just through having a
previous detected presence of The Other Half ! :-)
