I've got a http://www.parcelpod.com/ - I chose
this because of the capacity
(many others are much smaller and we seem to get quite a few boxes
delivered).
The postman thinks it's great - he even asked me about it as he wants one!
Parcelforce seem to be OK with it too, and some other couriers. The only
downside is that packages that have to be signed for don't get delivered.
I wired a magnetic door contact to the lid and made a simple latching
circuit with an LED inside the house. If it gets opened, the LED is on,
and
tells us when we get home that we need to check it.

You could even wire up magnetic sensors to detect when someone
opened/closed
