Hmmm. The Soundbridge Radio looks like a worthy contender. I wouldn't
mind opening the device up and attaching external speakers to it either
so might look further into this option.

The squeezebox is an option as I can run the slimserver software on my
NAS (Synology CubeStation 407) - thanks for reminding me of the
squeezebox...

Possibly the Roku/Pinnacle Soundbridge Radio seems to offer you most of=20
what you want then...? Except that the speakers are inbuilt (and very=20
good) - I don't know whether it can drive external speakers, or if your=20
prepared to open it to get at such a feature. . Obviously the appliance=20
itself has to be located somewhere away from the bathroom as it's mains=20
powered. It seems a quality build product.

It does have a web interface - but you can only control the radio=20
(FM/internet) and basic functions ie volume/on/off etc as well as some=20
basic configuration options this way . You can't select tracks from the=20
UPnP server to play , and in fact you must use the ir remote for this=20
as you can't even do it using the radios buttons . Some UPnP=20
controllers / servers offer an inbuilt web interface themselves that=20
>may< work pushing the tracks to the SB as a renderer. The SBRadio=20
also integrates via ROKU's Radio Roku website www.radioroku.com which is

quite an interesting concept.

If you do want to get tighter control over the player it incorporates a=20
very complete IP based integration protocol that could be linked into a=20
complete HA system. There may well be a web front ended application out=20
there that uses this. HomeSeer has a Roku plugin available for example.

As a box without an amplifier built in but incorporating a nice web=20
interface Escient have a great range of products - but they are=20
expensive. Models differ in terms of CD multichanger interfaces, on=20
board music storage (including none) / iPod support etc.

All the Squeezebox products have a web interface available but use a PC=20
for that purpose. They can connect directly to Squeezenetwork too. (no=20
PC required)

The Sonos units do serve web pages directly but nothing that is=20
particularly useful so you need a more capable external one.
