Why modify a PS3 Blu-Ray drive for use on a PC?

There are plenty of standard 5.25" optical drive format Blu-Ray
readers
and writers available for PCs - I have both a Pioneer BDC-202 Blu-Ray
reader and DVD/CD reader/writer and an LG GGW-H20L HD-DVD reader and
Blu-Ray/DVD/CD reader/writer in my main PC ... The Pioneer is about
£80
and the LG about £180.
