I've been doing some research in this area lately and the important
thing to consider about the Popcorn hour is that it is not alone. The
main component of the Popcorn is the Sigma Designs SMP8635 which is a
dedicated chip for Video and Audio decoding although it is not the
latest iteration.

Have a look at this site (no recommendation as I haven't used them
myself, they just seem to have a good range of such products):

The generic term for these devices seems to be Network Media Tank
(NMT). If considering one maybe worth checking out AVForums as they
mention a few of these devices.

Myself, I am torn between a Tivx device or the very nice looking
