Do you have a Linux box around? As I now have seven Linux machines at
home, the idea of someone possessing not a single one seems alien to me.
:-)

Anyway, if you don't, you can always boot another PC using a Linux Live CD
and then see what you can see on the disk. There aren't many disk formats
that a modern desktop Linux can't read, though some like xfs and reiser
aren't enabled by default.

If you're anywhere near Leeds, I'd be happy to take a look at it for you,
or I'm happy to help talk you through it off-list.
