RE: Hi-Def video senders (long post, sorry!)

I have a pair of Just Add Power HDMI V1 Baluns sat under my desk -
never go=
t
round to trying them out..

Though I do believe the general consensus of JAP V1 that they were not
really good enough for Fluid motion, and I believe many people use them for
Digital signage rather than TV. Version 2 is supposed to be much better,
bu=
t
at an additional cost - you may see these V1's on EBay soon..

I have just obtained a nice shiney pair of HDBaseT baluns that are due for
installation tomorrow in my Bedroom :) - they are replacing an existing
twi=
n
CAT5 unit that works great, but i'm hoping as the HDbaseT units do
bi-directional IR that I might be able to route my Bedroom TV IR back to
th=
e
rack to pickup a GlobalCache i-Tach to enable control of the TV via
Control=
4
without a local controller.

I'll let you know how it turns out, but as mentioned previously they aint
cheap - I think the pair retail should be around =A3350+VAT=20

That's a lovely solution and a lovely bit of kit, - but it's not so much
"straying" - more a case of "sprinting at full pelt"
into my aforementioned
"=A3stupid money" territory! - currently =A3420 PER END! - so a
single
point-to-point pair would cost me as much as the new amplifier!

I don't mind paying a "sensible" amount, but it's taken several
years (and =
a
fair few new handbags) to get authorisation to buy a new amp, there's no
wa=
y
I could justify spending DOUBLE what I'd said just to get HD 10 metres
away=
!

Looks like this weekend I'll be looking at how I can try to fish a new CAT5
run to where I need it.. - I know it's not going to be easy...

Cheers

Hi Paul,

Not sure if this is the same thing Neil mentioned but have a look at this:
http://www.automatedhome.co.uk/New-Products/Just-Add-Power-HDMI-over-IP-2G-=
E
uropean-Launch.html

Basically HDMI over IP, so only one Cat5 cable needed.
I thought **everyone** cabled cat5 to their kitchen though...
;-)

Tim.
