Re: Re: Is it cheaper to leave your heating on?
I would have thought so too but I think some of the assumptions must
includ=
e the efficiency of the heating system as a whole as I mentioned.
Unless the difference is extreme (which it may be I suppose if the
property=
is empty all day) I think you will find it hard to get conclusive figures =
since the heat-loss is so dependent on the outside temperature which has
be=
en varying quite a lot recently. I did once briefly look at "degree
days" (=
e.g. http://www.carbontrust.com/media/137002/ctg075-degree-days-for-energy-=
management.pdf) which is a method of allowing for external temperatures
and=
might be worth investigating.
I'd love to hear what you find out though...

But even with the best insulation available, it surely has to require more
=
energy to keep something at a constant temperature than to let it cool
down=
and warm up again? It might not be much more, but it has to be more, doesn=
't it?=20
I was hoping someone on here would have recorded their energy use and
tried=
different regimes. Looks like I might have to do it myself, curiosity is g=
etting the better of me...
