Routing TV cables in the chimney

Hi everyone
I would like to mount the TV on the chimney breast in the lounge. First
challenge is routing power & AV cables so everything is hidden!
The chimney is no longer used with an electric decorative fire installed in
the fireplace and the chimney pot is capped off on the roof. The house has
plentiful central heating and it's a modern build house so doesn't demand
the real fire effect.
My proposal is to route power and AV cables from the loft to the lounge via
the chimney. I thought a core drill would be suitable to create the
openings at each end to a similar size as a tumble drier vent.
Has anyone done this before or can you talk me out of it as a very bad idea
before I do something I may regret?
Many thanks
Tom
