Okay, so where are we a year on from the beginning? Just wanted to
burble a bit. Nothing too important here :)

When I got the first version of this out the door xAPFramework.NET
(xFx) came with just a couple of modules; xAPMessage.dll (for xAP
message encapsulation) and xAPTransport.dll (to handle the network
interface). That's grown to 6 now, plus a few others. These are
selectively pulled in to assorted projects so they're not always
necessary.

The code, freely available on the website, has continued to expand and
improve. I'm quite pleased with it. Never totally happy of course, as
I used this project to get to know Microsoft's .NET. There are a few
things I'd like to change but on the whole it has worked well.

Back in August I introduced a slightly different system for putting
applications together. This means I can easily put different
interfaces on them all and package them in multiple ways, including as
Windows Services.

The application set is larger now, but the list never seems to shrink
much! That's half the fun though.

As it turns out, I don't tend to use the Service versions of the
applications too much myself since I'm always updating xFx that sits
behind them all.

Where does the future go? The current roadmap involves a few more
applications and updates and sorely needed documentation, including
developer level references - which, incredibly, I've not updated at
all in the past year. How bad is that?!

From my own point of view xAP work continues mostly daily, time
allowing. Do let me (us) know if you've got any requests, problems or
general queries. A lot of features in some forthcoming applications
from a few of us are brainwaves and ideas from various 'alpha'
testers.
