Hi,
Probably best to start with what Four is for and what to expect.
Four has 2 main roles. Firstly Four is allow you to ask english
questions and get responses base on xAP responses. This is main based
around Floorplan and Switchboard at the moment. You can ask for the
status of devices, control devices, get recent callers, lookup contact
information etc. If you ask 'show interfaces' it will tell you what
it's connected to. There is nothing to configure, if it detects a
suitable app it will show up with that command. Questions can be asked
in three ways. From the web interface, via a xAP message and via
Twitter. This s what the twitter tab is in config. Set this up against
a secondary twitter account and you can direct a question to that
account. If you start a question with 'display' or 'announce' then
these will trigger display messages or TTS messages. A secondary
feature of the Twitter setup is that display messages will be relayed
to the twitter account. By default all messages get relayed but if you
enter a csv list of xAP sources in the xAP Sources box you can limit
what gets relayed. It doesn't matter which of the methods you use to
ask Four a question, it will respond the same and always back in the
method that the question was asked. You can add a custom data
collection and question options. This can trigger certain questions to
get and respnd based on HTTP GET requests to an external webservice.
Look int he db.txt fo info on that.
The second function of Four is to introduce the concept of people into
xAP. If you on the Add tab enter a persons name you will get a tab
for each person. You are able to setup a few itesm per person. Firstly
you can set presence items, such as IM presence, PC presence,
bluetooth etc to be able to detect if the person is at home, mobile or
at work ( You'll need the respective apps for this to work). You can
then do 3 things with this. xAP messages are made for the presence of
each person so you can use it to trigger events. Using the public
presence option you can have an icon on you webpage/blog etc that
says if you're home, away etc. You can also add a twitter
username, password and the status will be posted to that account. The
final option on a person is the calendar function. You can add the url
of the ical feed of your calendar ( google calendar is good for this)
Once added you can get reminders over xAP of coming appointments.
I can add more xAP messages when things happen, but the assumption was
that conversations with Four would be to and from the same medium web/
xAP/twitter. If you give some specific questions>response I can look
into it., really depends on what/how housebot interfaces and the
messages it uses.
