only name and number and then superceed the name if the number is in the
personal phonebook maintained on the host computer.&nbsp; I know that
date and time are usually present.&nbsp; There are some funny
combinations of name and number when out of area, private, withheld or
other special encoding is used.&nbsp; I dont recall the specifics but I
think the number is sometimes missing if the name is special.&nbsp;
Wireless sources also present some other info that I do not
capture.&nbsp; I've seen only Chr(13) used to delimit fields, but I
cannot be certain that is a standard.&nbsp; Sometimes the chr(13) is at
the end of the CID burst and sometimes it is not.&nbsp; This makes
timing tricky since the chr(13) cannot always be used to know when the
field is complete vs when the modem fifo has not yet been flushed with the
last few characters of the last-received field.</FONT></DIV>

custom string to be able to be entered as an initialise string
so&nbsp;I will do it that way.&nbsp; Is the format of the data that
comes back from the modem when you get an incoming call in any way
consistent across modems - your first message hints that that might be a
bit of an optimistic view - maybe again the best way is a template match of
some form eg look for ###-### #### or something.&nbsp; You sort of
imply it varies based on the Telecom supplier in that all the modem does is
forward the 'data packet' to the PC. This is I guess very possible as the
packet is just a modem burst anyway. I am not sure if there is a
formal/standard length/checksum agreement in the US between Telco's ?
