There is a new beta version of TelCanto, V1.1.4, available for download
from
the TelCanto web site.
The focus of this release is to make several new connectivity features of
TelCanto available for beta testing:
* UPnP support
* xAP support
* Command Line Interface
The UPnP support includes the ability of TelCanto to act as either or both
a
media server and a media renderer. It is likely that its use as a media
server will be of most interest (as use as a media renderer requires a UPnP
media controller, few of which are currently available). The media server
support has been developed using a Roku SoundBridge, and it has not been
tested yet with other UPnP compatible players, so we welcome feedback from
anyone who is able to test it with other players. We also welcome feedback
on the functionality currently provided, e.g. browse and formatting
options,
and on the performance of the server with very large music libraries (it
has
been tested with a library of just over 10000 tracks).
The xAP support has already had some testing by the xAP community, but we
welcome feedback from a wider audience. Any comments on specific
xAP-related issues may be directed either to the TelCanto forum or to the
xAP forum ( <mailto:xap_automation@xxxxxxx>
xap_automation@xxxxxxx).
The Command Line Interface provides functionality aimed at controlling the
player and providing "now playing" status, and does not currently
include
functionality for library browsing and queuing of items for playing. We
welcome feedback on any requirements for extension to the current
functionality.
This version also includes support for FLAC files.
