pars xAP messages with microchip c compiler.

Hi all.
Can anyone help we with the code needed to parse a xAP message using the
microchip compiler for the PIC.
I'm working to port over the "Ultimate garage door monitor" to
the Modtronix sbc68ec.
I have been successful sending out the xAP messages but I am looking for a
very lightweight way to parse the incoming messages.
I looked at Patricks c code but I'm not sure if thats what I need.
Unfortunately my coding skills are in C# and not ANSI c.
