The devices Kevin got hold of were the mss100 which are a prepackage
version of a device similar to the xport with a 25 pin serial port on the
end. People have been using them primarily for COM port redirection. I
have used one to successfully send xPL signals to a serial VFD display
using the com port redirector software on the PC, as far as the PC is
concerned it just another COM port. I currently have that one now rigged
up to Frank's TVOSD test unit, very nice too.

Also in the interests of the group and having one sat in my desk draw I
have just taken the top off it and the dev board for the xPort looks very
similar to the board inside the mss100, a few differences but the RJ45 part
looks the same. I've printed off some of the pdf's and will have a read
over the weekend, was £35 per unit ex vat?

Hello,

We just had our office environmental controls network enabled. Being nosey
I
had a chat with the engineer, who showed me the interface. He basically
said
it was an RS232 serial port over IP.

After a bit of digging around I came up with some prices £35 quid per
module, £110 for the development system.

Has anybody seen / used this stuff before? I might get the dev kit to have
a
play.

Peter
