It sounds like it's losing communications with the UCM.
Unfortunately, I use Comfort with the UCM/Ethernet interface, not the
UCM/RS232 module, so I can't easily test the xPL Comfort app using the
RS232 side of the code.
I'll have a look through the code and see if I can find anything that could
be causing this problem.

It's not been updated for a while, so chances are you're using the latest
version.
I've also added it to the downloads section of xplproject.org.uk, as for
some reason it wasn't listed.
