Hi All
Have ordered and will be receiving some Sanyo OSD chips very
soon...So possibly looking at doing a pcb for the new TVOSD ...(once
prototype Sanyochip  is working ).....Was thinking if possible i might try
and make the serial interface useful for other things as well as the
TVOSD.....For instance a xPL serial Interface for FirM....
Although to have a multizone ir Transmit and Receive using FirM requires 3
pieces of hardware....
1: FirM......
2: Serial Interface.....
3: Hardware to generate and decode ir signals (FirM is only used to direct
ir to zone and inform which zone ir signal came from) For this  i would
suggest the USB UIRT which JohnB is working on an xPL
plugin................

Does this setup seem practical ???......IE.......
To transmit say to zone 4.....first an xPL serial command would be
sent....then when confirm received from the interface an xPL  IR Send
message sent to the USB UIRT .................

After receiving an ir signal  via xPL - USB UIRT  ....an xPL command would
be sent  to the FirM serial interface to request the "Active
zone".........

Knowing which zone a signal came allows lots of things to happen........as
well as multiple pieces of identical  kit to used but in different
zones.........

One consideration is the cost of the hardware......The USB UIRT landed in
Oz
$100.00....plus the FirM hardware .......So my thoughts on this was to pass
on a discount(cost of parts plus postage)  to people who" HAVE"
developed
xPL Hardware or Software..

Thoughts ??????????

Also looking for some  other suggestions that could also use the serial
interface hardware.........
