I'm only thinking of PC apps here, where you could detect conflicts if you
assumed that each device needed exclusive access to either audio, video or
both - but the problem then becomes one of locating and stopping a client
that is already running, so that the new client can play its file.  Perhaps
it's more a problem for the PC user interface to deal with - xPL Desktop
anyone? ;-)
