Hi Mark,

When you say "outlet" are you refering to a particular CAT5
socket or a KAT5
Receiver?

Is the cable effectively run as one long length

TX----RXU-----RXU-----RXU----RX

It doesnt matter if it goes back and forth to a patch panel but it MUST be
a
straight run not star wired at any point.

Also, is the RX the final unit in the chain ?

There mustnt be any sockets beyond the RX as this will create a long
unterminated stubb of cable that will give problems.

Have you tried each outlet using the same TV as a reference to confirm that
the picture is getting darker and that it isnt due to different settings on
the various TV's.

If you unplug the first or second receiver does the brightness appear
normal
on the darkest set?

Are all the power supplies set to the correct voltage ?

I may not be able to reply further until after I get back from the
Smarthome
show on Sunday.

Regards

Keith

I recently increased my KAT5 outlets from 3 to 4. When I did I noticed
that outlet 4 appears significantly darker than outlet 1. I have tried
a number of permutations of sequence and number and have determined
that the effect is not caused by any particular outlet but by how far
down the chain the outlet is. So, outlets 1 & 2 are always bright, 3 is
noticably darker and 4 is significantly darker.

What I need to know is whether this is expected, whether anything can
be done to improve the situation and whether future outlets 5 & 6 will
be even worse.

Thanks for any advice.

Mark Fulford
