Re: Pronto Remote control

Hi All

Why not use a PalmPilot, it is infinitly more configurable than any of
the dedicated remotes that you have mentioned and is half the price.

The Palm III (£199) has inbuilt IR and 2MB ram but the IR isn't very
powerful. The best option is to go for a PalmPilot Personal (£100) and
buy the 2MB/IR upgrade (£100) or one of the many IR add-ons (£20 - £80)
which have a range of about 25 feet. You can get "off the shelf"
shareware called Omniremote ($20, www.pacificneotek.com) or write your
own using the free GCC tools available on the net. Whats more you get a
fantastic personal organiser that also plays games (breakout - chess -
mines) thrown in for FREE!

The hardware prices are Dixons, so imagine how much discount you can get
if you shop around !
