Just got some "clarification" from Portcullis House in Glasgow.
The Cost of the goods was $43 (£26)
The Shipping Charge was $37 (£23)
for a total cost of: $79 (£49)
The Duty and VAT comes to £11.90 , which I think gives import duty at 20%
(£10.12) and VAT overall at 17.5%
Onto that, I have been charged £10 by UPS for "brokerage
services".
Apparently, they charge VAT and Duty on the >TOTAL< cost to you, not
the
actual value of the goods. That sounds like a sweet little scam if you ask
me.
I reckon I will have a growl at UPS, as such a large percentage of the
value
of the good seems a bit off.
Other than that, it's just another reason to move to Holland!
