Just got some "clarification" from Portcullis House in Glasgow.

The Cost of the goods was $43 (=A326)
The Shipping Charge was $37 (=A323)
for a total cost of: $79 (=A349)

The Duty and VAT comes to =A311.90 , which I think gives import duty at 20%
(=A310.12) and VAT overall at 17.5%

Onto that, I have been charged =A310 by UPS for "brokerage
services".

Apparently, they charge VAT and Duty on the >TOTAL< cost to you, not
the
actual value of the goods. That sounds like a sweet little scam if you ask
me.

I reckon I will have a growl at UPS, as such a large percentage of the=20
value
of the good seems a bit off.

Other than that, it's just another reason to move to Holland!
