My sister is getting a laptop for christmas, and I was just wondering what
is the easiest, (read cheapest) way of connecting it to a wired, cat5e
ethernet network.

I need this so it can access the local lan, for for all sorts of access, so
has to have tcp/ip. I have heard of ethernet to USb connectors so you just
plug it into a usb port on the laptop?

Also, just out of interrest, before I run some cat5 into her rroom, whats
the cheapest wireless option at the moment, basestation+ pcmcia card? $$$?

thanks, steve
