No ... the boxes are normally not taped but banded (as you describe).
The ?199 is the price t which the split units were further reduced after
many of us had already bought units at the previous price of ?299 ... Keith
bought one at ?299 and took it back because it was too big, the price was
subsequently reduced and he bought another at the reduced price.
