Funnily enough my man that knows about such things said that the VPL10
was better but was not worth paying another 2K plus for it over the
MT-1!

I actually preferred the MT1 t the VW10HT that I saw at W2FM but I have
subsequently seen a better calibrated VW10 and it was superb ... the MT1
however *IS* a great projector and I was *ALMOST* tempted t can my
thoughts
of a CRT projector and save myself some money by going for the MT1.
Given that there are some very good VP400QMs out there ... just make
sure
that you get t see the hours counter on the bulb and check it out for a
green bias ... some of them had a strong green tinge. The advantage of a
second hand one is that you can check them out for dead / stuck pixels
and
they're unlikely t develop more.
