That's not the answer I was expecting and puts it in a whole new light. In that case the only differences between the Kenwood solution and an empeg solution would be:

 

Pros for empeg

• Searching - I presume you can search the hd on the EMPeg but not on the Headend\CD Changer
• Access Speed - Again, presumeably the empeg is much faster rather than loading and unloading CDs
• Capacity - 10 GB beats even a 10 CD changer

 

Pros for Kenwood

• Cost - Kenwood solution cheaper
• Convenience - No need t conect the Kenwood t your PC t download
• RDS Tuner included
• Access t Normal CDs (if needed)

 

Perhaps you can test it out and report back when you get your new headend.

Well, my cd autochanger in one car is 7 years old - I have a little £10 converter to plug it int my current MASK unit (year old)

They reckon it will work fine - as long as it can talk t it (the changer) you can use it t serve up mp3 cd's

Here's a thought and I think I know the answer but......
 
with the Kenwood MP6090R being able t read MP3 CDs, if you connected it up t a Kenwood CA Autochanger and loaded the Autochanger with MP3 CDs would this work ?

Just in case anyone was considering it via this source, I place an order on
Tuesday Evening at 11:45pm and it turned up Thursday Morning at 9:00am via

I have the Kenwood MP3 stereo as mentioned...

its very good,,,,mask system, 4x47w, and you can hook up a minidisc
or cd changer t it.

model is : KDC MP6090R.

You can get one from www.cel-direct.com for £239 incl vat

It does have some weird requirements for how the file system has to
be arranged, but nothing to complex
Well worth the money imho.
