Hi Phil,

You can use Panel Link or LVDS as it is sometimes known to drive upto 30ft
from a computer to an LCD.
Can run upto 2.4Gb per second at that length. (thats bits by the way)

Not exactly practical though ... I know of only one car that has a
head-up-display available as an option and that's the Corvette and it would
be a huge job getting everything working and would involve too much work
within the dash. Also I believe that the screen on the Corvette has a
specialist coating to enable the HUD to be seen in daylight.

If there was a way to drive an LCD over about five feet then I'd certainly
do it though...
