It does depend on the quality of both
your
output AND display device, but I would challenge you to tell the difference
between component (essentially the same quality as RGB) and SVideo using my
Arcam
DV88 and Panasonic 42 inch panel.
SVideo and RGB should be more than
capable
of supporting video over cable runs of up to 15m let alone
1!

most appropriate conductors.

quality, I can always additionaly connect DVD directly to the TV via

If
you
feed an S-Video to then convert to RGB then, obviously, the output signal
in
RGB is only going to be (at best) as good as the input, i.e. your original
S-Video, so why bother? So yes, I would stick with S-Video through the
whole
setup for convenience unless you want to start to feed individual sources
directly to the display and cut out any noise introduced by the amp,
personally
though that’s *way* too
much
hassle IMO.
TBH,
IMO, RGB is better than S-Video but not hellish much and under normal
viewing
conditions from any source other than DVD you are unlikely to see a massive
improvement although you would see some.

would I need RGB to S-video converter. AV amp's output is already S-video
and
that should connect to SCART.
My
question was whether to convert S-video into RGB (if it's possible) and use
SCART AV1 or to keep signal as S-video and connect it to SCART
AV2.

understood that RGB signal is better quality, but I don't know if
any
quality can be gained by converting S-video into RGB, because you
cannot get better quality then the source signal itself.

At the moment, I have DVD, video
etc. connected to TV's scarts directly. Sound is connected to apm. Now it

a big confusion, because you need to use a few remotes to chose

www.rgbtosvideo.com for details of a
convertor from RGB to S-Video (Y/C). Since most AV amps switch in the
S-Video and/or composite video domain (not RGB), this would be the best
thing.
A
scart
socket can carry RGB, composite and S-Video - though not all at
once. Obviously your AV scart on the back of your TV will have to
support
S-Video (AV1 usually is RGB [plus composite] and AV2 and above will usually
be
S-Video capable depending on your model)
