You are missing something ... The original email said "So,
theoretically, if I can get the component video outputs into a scart,
then my TV should think it is an RGB Signal??  I think this is what the
Xbox does - the component video outputs are used to make an RGB scart
for European Xboxes, whereas they can be used directly on the US xbox."

1) Feeding component video into an RGB SCART doesn't work.

2) The Xbox can switch between feeding RGB and YUV down the same lines
but that doesn't mean they are the same signals...

The component feeds through an amp won't switch domestic RGB as RGB in a
SCART is *usually* actually RGB + Composite Sync which requires *4*
switched lines not three - it will only switch RGB when the sync is on
Green.
