Paul,

You can do more than just control heating using the temp sensors and
thermostats and trigger events based on certain conditions.

For example my electric blanket only comes on when the outside temp is
lower than 5C, if the boiler goes out and the internal temp droops below
a pre-determined level then an alarm goes off, the morning "wake-up"
routine starts early if the external temp is low enough to allow icing
on the cars. Stuff like that is pretty easy and only requires a bit of
programming in HV but works to great effect.

My heating is totally controlled by HV and an RCS stat/Dallas DS1820s
and is the old "normal" type boiler, it's due to be replaced with a nice
combi during the summer though, Vokera IIRC, and that should be
interesting. I was intending to do a kind of tutorial for the group on
how I have done it and how I will integrate it with the combi.
