RE: back to basics - laying cables

Oh come on now - I must qualify for a cigarillo at least? :)
I got the rio, the baby cam, the network (aka lappy)

The audio feeds are confusing me.
You are TXing from the processor to the rear channel amp and RXing to it as well?

Oh and saying 'rear' suggests there is also a 'front'.  If you have surround in your Bedroom then you are one jammy git indeed :-D

re: future plans - surely the KAT5 switcher will do for all IR and A/V feeds into the room, thus you don't need any more CAT 5 sockets?

Close, but no cigar:

Bear in mind this is only the master bedroom:

1: AV feed from baby cam to video switch
2: Audio feed from processor to rear channel amp (KAT5 TX) at front of room
3: Audio feed from processor to rear channel amp (KAT5 RX) at back of room
4: Rio
5: Spare lappy

... The wireless card is missing somewhere, I can't remember where I put it... When I find it, I'll still use three, for the main lappy, the spare lappy, and the Fujitsu.

Future expansion plans :

- Via PC displaying "Outlook today" onto TV
- IR send from HomeVision (in Node zero) to hi-fi rack
- Siteplayer to control the processor over serial port (so I can control sources / volume over the house Intranet as well as by remote)
- more cameras "gardenCam", say
- integration of the Meridian video switch with the KAT5 one :-)

Regards,

Mark

AV Feed
Baby cam
Rio
Network
Telephone

Am I right?
Though network and telephone should be wireless by now!!!

And I agree - nowhere near enough.  Double it and you'll _still_ run out somewhere :-)

Be aware, that you're not fitting anything like enough!

I'm currently using 5 ports in the master bedroom, and will go to using 6 as soon as I collect the Via board that's currently at Mr. Hoye's...

Once it's in, you'll use it!!!

Subject: RE: [ukha_d] back to basics - laying cables

Hi...

Ok - I'm going to start the slow process of re-decorating my house (mid-terace brick built)

I want to lay a quantity of cable around my house - to a small cupboard in the storeroom/soon to be office /box room...

However, the partition walls in my house are brick.. not the conventional stud (they are all supporting walls)

I want to lay 8 cat 5's in the front room.

4x in the dining room / dining kitchen

4 in the master bed room

4 in the spare room

and back to node 0 - the box room.

I also want to lay some more power cables + some speaker jack-points on the walls.

How do I go about laying the cable? - I presume I don't just lay the cable on the wall and then plaster over it?

Is there a trunking product or conduit available for me to adhere to the wall, to drop my cables down?

Any help really appreciated

Regards,

Jonathan.
