One other reason for the extra wire is that you can always add a second
switch to control another LD10. You also never know what self contained
modules may arrive in the future.
3core + Earth allows the following ...
RED - Live IN
YELLOW - Switched/Dimmed Live out
BLUE - Neutral IN
Earth - Earth.
or with 2 existing LD10's
RED - Live IN
YELLOW - Switch Control for first AD10
BLUE - Switch Control for second AD10
Earth - Earth.
