Chaps,
This has been a really useful thread for me as I was on the verge of asking
the
same question. One item remains and that is.......
My current incoming phone cable is 6 core so which colours go to which
punchdowns on the patch panel ??
TIA
Mark

[ukha_d] BT cabling through patch
panel
>----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know there has been a lot of posts in the past about BT telephone
wiring over CAT5. I've had a search but couldn't find the right
info...
I've now got most of the structured CAT5 cabling in place and am
starting the (really tedious) job of terminating it to the patch
panels (3 x 48 way). What's the best way of wiring the phone lines
so that I can use the patch panel to route a line to any of the
outlets? Do you simply daisy-chain the incoming line to several
patch panel ways and then patch to the relevant outlet? Also, is
there a standard for colour coding i.e. which wires/pins on the CAT5
correspond to the BT numbering system.
Thanks,
Paul.
