I
would say that you're right...
...I've seen short term burn in on CRT tubes after as
little as
three hours use. I've seen semi-permanent tube damage in less than 8
hours.
Having
said that if a projector is used carefully then there is no reason why not
to
use one for a PSX ... I *HAVE* used my NEC P6 with Gran Turismo 3
before.
The
problem is that the temptation is there to wind up the brightness and
that's when the problems start as the aging of the tubes increses
exponentially
as the brightness increases.
The
solution in your case to stop said pubescent door slamming 14 year old
completely arsing up your brothers CRT projector is to buy a cheap LCD
projector
on ebay for him to use ...
...and
if that doesn't work then can I come round there and kick his arse for
being a spoiled brat?

14 year
old slamming my front door because I suggested that using a PSX with a 12
month old Sony CRT projector probably wasn’t a good idea as there is
a danger
of burn-in.
Am I right, or being overly
cautious?
