Well, I upgraded my Siemens GigaSet 3075 the other day and have
been playing with it since. Not a vast number of obvious new options,
but I have found a favourite - SMS alerts for voice messages. The
unit can send a message to my mobile to say what number called
at what time. Only problem is it's in German... Really need to look
at changing that - if possible.

You’ll need to re-register all of your handsets to use all the new features (providing you have 4000 range handsets of course)

Let me know how you get on.

I’ve also found a place that does reconditioned UK chargers for 7 quid – you can knick the power adapters and get rid of all those 2 pin plugs. I’ll post the url when I can find it

Andy,

Have you tried updating the firmware via the USB port? From the reading I did yesterday you can turn a 3075 into a 4075 by updating the firmware – Maybe you can turn it into an “international” version that speaks English.

Functionally, this looks like the newer version of what I have. The BT one did

not have voice messaging etc so I got one from Germany. Only small thing

to remember is that the voice message instructions are in German. The

handset stuff can be switched, but I have not found an English voice to talk

to me :-( Only really of use if calling in.

There’s been some talk about Siemens PBXs on the list before.

I’ve had a 1054ISDN for 3 years now (supports 8 dect handsets plus two fixed phones) – it is also sold in the UK by BT as the Diverse ISDN.

I’m looking at a replacement at the moment, and while it will be some time before BT get around to re-badging it the 4075 seems like the dog’s nads. I’ve just done a quick search and the base station comes in at around ˆ340 (first time I’ve ever used the Euro key J)

3 different digital answering machines in the base station accessible from all handsets

USB port for connection to PC which provides a CAPI fax facility

Doorstation connection options (doorstation calls can be transferred to external numbers)

Supports all advanced ISDN signalling features (shame BT don’t!)

Manual can be downloaded here:
