There didn't appear to be when I had mine installed here. Until
the
analogue line is connected there's no way to reliably test the
connection. If you have two phone lines arriving at your door on
the
same cable, there's no guarantee that they take the same path back to
the
exchange.
It all seems to be something of a gamble, particularly since BT
want to tie you in to a contract for a year for the analogue line
without being able to tell you if you can even get ADSL.
Obviously
that's fine if you already use the phone for voice calls, but for
various reasons, I needed a separate line for ADSL.
I phoned BT to order a new line for my ADSL connection and specifically
stated several times that I only wanted it for ADSL (I didn't take BT's
ADSL offering though). They just took my order without even
pointing
out that I might not be able to get ADSL. I felt that was the best
I
could do to cover my arse if things didn't work out because if I
couldn't
then get ADSL, the line wouldn't be suitable for the purpose it was
sold.
