It should work either with one cable or with a star topology and the
cables
linked together at the master (i.e. computer).  It's really a case of
suck
it and see, you may get some reflections that cause problems.  There
are
way round this, Maxim do a pdf document about the different topologies
and
how best to set them up, link below.
