Re: Hard disk copying

Dude (again)!
Mmm disk mirroring...
Point 1 DONT UNLESS REALY PUSHED use w2k software mirroring/raid this IS
slow!.
Point 2 Get it done in hardware (adaptec scsi raid card for servers always
work for me)
Point 3 there is NAH point 3
Point 4 Mirror sets - 2 disks both store exact copy of data as it happens -
If one fails the other takes over - if you get 2 disks failed - start again
:)
Point 5 GET A TAPE UNIT! (and tapes and backup software - Veritas Backup
Exec)
Point 6 DONT USE MS BACKUP! - its, well crap!

HTH!

Subject: [ukha_d] Hard disk copying

Hi All

Following my server hd crash i'm now of course absolutely paraniod about
another failure.

I would like suggestions for suitable protection against this again - how
does disk mirroring work ? I believe it slows machine down, but i assume
i'd
have an exact copy of my harddrive continuously. I dont fancy greater
degrees pf RAID as this seems like a lot of hassle.

I need a fairly simple solution that will protect us.

Thanks

Dean.
