RE: A/V Matrix Switching

Hi Julian,

I regularly buy bits and pieces on eBay and audio and video matrix
switches do crop up from time to time - look for Kramer and Autopatch as
brands. Having said that I have now accumulated a few spare matrix
switches,
some brand new and some used.  Compulsive 'There's a bargain'/"Ooh
that may
be useful" syndrome - too long on this list.

Contact me offlist if you are interested in S/H and I'll see if I
have anything here that may be suitable for your needs, I need to have a
clearout anyway. I know I have a brand new Kramer 8x4 IR/RS232
S-Video.Audio
and also an 8x8 composite/stereo with RS232, and poss even a 8x12 YUV/RGBs
w/Rs232. Also a few stereo audio of varying sizes.  Long story as to why I
have all these. Have a think about the size of the matrix and the type of
signals you need to switch. Matrix switches do not convert between formats.
Also the distances between the various bits of kit is important for
quality.
There are many variants eg

Audio   	Standard line level / balanced / digital
Video   	Composite / S-Video / RGB with various synch options
-/ YUV / DVI etc
Features	RS232 / Infra Red / FrontPanel control / AV
following/break away / preset matrix patterns
19" rackmount

And of course you could front end the inputs and outputs with KAT5
units to make a KAT5 switcher lookalike - now that would draw the crowds at
UKHA !  (wouldn't be as nice as a real KAT5 switcher though).
