Two metal connectors mounted directly into a metal plate = *NOT*
electrically isolated from each other as there is an electrical path
between
the two.

Two metal connectors mounted in a plastic plate (or in a metal plate but
with isolating washers/grommets between the connectors and plate) =
electrically isolated from each other as there is no electrical path
between
the two.
