RE: 300GB Hard Drives



Maxtor had very serious issues a couple of years ago where some of the
spindle grease would cause the head not to park correctly on spin down,
resulting in it burying on spin up.  This affected 100,000's of disks, and
is still evident today (though not on their current models AFAIK).  For
that
reason I'd not touch them, and I believe a major OEM feels the same way.
