RE: Plasma cabling requirement

Is the developer fitting the plasmas as well? If then a quick check of
the
specs would determine just how many connections the screens could support.
In most cases these days I recommend a video switching/upscaling surround
sound processor/amplifier that means only 1 5-core cable is used for
analogue video connections between amp and screen as all sources get
connected to the amp. HDMI/DVD needs a separate cable that is
pre-terminated.



If the developer will accept it then 2 x 5-core mini coax would be better -
most people these days would want to connect DVD, Sky, possibly a games
machine etc. 2 5-cores allows component, RGB, S-vid & composite. It can
also
carry HD component (analogue) but digital HD requires HDMI/DVI with HDCP.



Is the developer also supplying the plasmas either as standard or as an
optional upgrade? If so then you need to get them to check the spec of
plasma they intend to use to see if it will be HD ready or not. I'm also
assuming it is a plasma TV so built in tuner, speakers etc. If it's just a
plasma display then there will be a different cabling requirement.



Finally, will there be more CT100 for Sky+ etc in the vicinity? If so do
make sure there is a Cat5e for the telephone!

I've just been asked to pre-wire some houses for wall mounted Plasma's.

This is usually carried out for them by an AV guy - he wants ducts etc.,
and
they dont, as they have to batten walls out to cater for his 32mm ducts.

What sensible cabling requirement would be acceptable for a plasma - i'm
thinking 1 x CT100, 1 x Power & 1 x Multicore Coax thing - dont know
technical term, but it has five/six small colour coded coax's in it which i
believe are used for the component signals if a seperate box is used for
Plasma.

I havent look at HD at all, and dont know if there's a cable (no plugs)
that
could be built in wall and plastered over.

Any suggestions appreciated.

This is a volume builder doing a site of 50 units, so nothing fancy is
allowed.
