RE: HD Video Editing
Geoff,
Thanks for your response to my question.
I suppose I might need to move to either an Intel i5 or i7 processor since
I=92ll be editing HD footage.
=20
Anybody else out there got any experience of editing HD video?

I have just undertaken a similar exercise. I went for an Intel i3 530=20
processor (=A376), a Gigabyte GA-H55-UD3H motherboard (=A388) and 4Gb DDR3=
=20
RAM (=A365). Funds were limited for this upgrade, hence the choice of an=20
i3 instead of an i5 (which was double the price) and also for choosing=20
the integrated video instead of an external graphics card.
I can't comment on it's HD video editing capabilities as I haven't done=20
any yet, but in normal use the CPU load is tiny and the core=20
temperatures stay around 22 deg C. Ripping DVDs and transcoding them,=20
the core temperature rockets up to 36 deg C and processor usage is=20
around 40% ish.
Having transferred from a 3Ghz single core Celeron, my new setup, whilst=20
modest compared to some systems, seems so much quicker.
