Re: Netiom-xAP
Interesting Robert as I am about to do exactly the same on my meter.
The frequency of the 'events' is such that the network traffic is
negligable, so having them sent will not cause any problems.
However.... NB I haven't tried this.... but you may be able to not name
the input which will stop it sending any xAP BSC information. You should
actually do this for all unused inputs and outputs (blank out the
default names) as this tidies network traffic . Leave the counter
enabled though, but you can set a hysteresis level such that it doesn't
report every increment. Now you will get 'scaled events' based on the
hysteresis setting and you can always 'query' the counter as to what
it's current value is. Think that should do the job.
Re uisng BSC or the Netiom schema it's your choice, BSC will
interoperate with other BSC aware apps without configuration but both
can be used to report the same information. The Netiom schema reports
more nodes at once and doesn't 'event' in realtime so is a query/result
poll.
