xap ping weirdness

i am monitoring about 10 devices w/ ping.  when i go to the config
menu for a device, the box for 'include in ping.status' sometimes is
'yes' and sometimes is 'no' despite having selected it as yes.  i'll
select it as yes then go back to edit the device right after & the
option is no again.  this is despite it actually being included in the
ping.status.
