What if some of your xAP apps don't run as services?

I too use Stuart's hub service app.
=20
But I control the order of startup with a little app that I wrote up
design=
ed exclusively for that, the service dependency manager:
http://webpages.charter.net/bushman4/servicedependencymanager.html
=20
With it, you can make all of your other xAP services dependant on the hub
s=
ervice, so that they will not start until the hub service has completed.
A=
nd, if you bounce the hub service, it bounces the rest of the dependant
ser=
vices as well.
=20
This is the windows-preferred method to control service app startup... it
u=
ses the same technology as Microsoft does... if you've ever tried to
restar=
t a service and had Windows tell you that "the following services will
also=
be restarted" then you are seeing dependency at work.
=20
Pretty slick, if I can toot my own horn for a minute... ;-)

Jon
I too have experienced similar problems with the service hub
I use the xAPFramework (Stuarts) service hub exclusively on my PC's
In my case the problems come from xAP applications starting before the Hub
=
Service gets started which causes the hub to fail. Some of the Visual
Basic=
Apps seem to be a bit swift in getting running. My solution is to use Dela=
yexec from http://www.rjlsoftware.com/software/utility/delayexec/
<http://w=
ww.rjlsoftware.com/software/utility/delayexec/> to control the order
and =
timing of the apps starting from the Startup Group.
Eg I have a Batch file called xAPtel.bat in a directory with the following
@echo off
cd\Progra~1\xapuku~1\xaptel
C:\Progra~1\delaye~1\delayexec.exe "C:\Program Files\xAP
UKUSA\xAPTel\xAPTe=
l.exe" 20
And a shortcut to the batch file in the startup group
Hope this helps

Hi everyone,
Probably didn't make myself very clear last time but basically I'd like to
=
know which xAP hub people recommend for use on windows?
I've tried Stuarts xAP hub as a service and it just doesn't work on my
mach=
ines (they all have two NIC's although the 2nd NIC is disabled in all
cases=
). The GUI version works most of the time but even that doesn't work 100%.
=
When they don't work they fire up fine but just don't seem to pick up

[I do have a project I'm very slowly writing up which is a Java xAP

equally run on a PC.]
