RE: xAP Hub on Vista - lots of joy :)

If anybody else needs the fixed hub for Vista then please post and I'll
forward a copy. But this is an alfa version so if are not having
difficulties right now wait a little for the release.

FYI, The two main fixes implemented were:
use .Net 2.0 installer classes and Visual Studio 2005 create a
Vista-friendly instaler
in the transport layer, specifically request IPv4 network sockets (Vista
will give you IPv6 by default if not specified).

The second of these issues will probably affect all xFx based applications
on Vista.

Suggest you try invoking the installer program directly from the command
line logged in on the full administrator account. That should get round any
need to elevate user privelidges (which doesn't work with custom actions in
XP installers, apparently, from a little googling)

Oh yuck, don't like the sound of that and don't have vista to test.

Will it install using installutil.exe?

eg

installutil.exe "C:\Program Files...HubService.exe"

Still can't get the hub installed - as before, it quits part way through.
Something to do with data execution prevention.

Is there a manual way of installing the service that I can try?

Vista is now my main O/S as it's all working lovely apart from any xAP apps
