RE: [OT] Help with Outlook 2000

Title: RE: [ukha_d] [OT] Help with Outlook 2000
Answering my own question here - yes I can collect individual mailboxes off the pop server but there's another problem. My domain name is registered elsewhere and they forward my email from >anything<@ukusa.co.uk t mail@xxxxxxx. So my incoming mails are sent to mail@xxxxxxx and the only clue I have is in the headers it shows wh the original email was sent to @ukusa.co.uk - which Eudora can pick up correctly and set my reply address accordingly - so am I snookered now with Outlook 2000 ?

Or perhaps I should have set my mail forwarding up differently.

Ahh. I think my problem then is that  >anything<@ukusa.co.uk is collected off my pop server. Hence lists@xxxxxxx and tivo@xxxxxxx come in on the same pop account.

I am not sure if I can collect the individual names separately with say 5 accounts and then sweep out the rest with one account set up more generally. Does anyone know if this is a possibility , collecting only the messages t a specific user off your pop server and leaving the rest ? Maybe I can qualify the Account name entry in the account properties in some way eg tivo@ukusa instead of just ukusa.

When you reply t a message it automatically uses the account it was sent to. When it is a new message however it uses the default account unless you tell it (manually) otherwise.

Hope this helps.

Be gentle Keith - I'll probably say some stupid things here.

I have set up multiple accounts within one profile - I have not setup multiple profiles. I don't want t keep having to change profiles to see if I have mail and I think that's what you have t do isn't it ?
So in my single profile I have lots of folders with all the correct emails sorted int each one by rules on receipt. The UKHA one looks for the ukha_d@xxxxxxx and moves it t that folder. But my reply addresses need t be different for each folder (group) just like yours are. In fact I noted yours inparticular were different this morning so I knew someone was doing it.
When I click on 'reply' the default email account is used although I can change this using the "Send Using...." menu but I really wanted the correct account t be associated with either the folder or rule or email address I am sending (replying) t .
Am I going about this the wrong way ??   (Please feel free t say - 'well what else would you expect of a Mac fan' and then humour me with a reply anyway !)

        Thanks Kevin

Assuming you have set up multiple accounts within the profile is should
reply using the account details for that account.

It does do this but I have several accounts

This should be from ukha@xxxxxxx whereas my normal mail is usually from
keith@xxxxxxx or keith.doxey@xxxxxxx

Is that because you have manually switched profiles ??

Keith

OK Guys

You've winged long enough about my strangely formatted
postings t UKHA so I am about t make the switch t the 'great'
Outlook 2000.

I have set up rules and folders t nicely file all the email
from the various groups that I subscribe t . UKHA has got 100 entries
so far in a day !

I use different email identities in different groups, partly
cos that how I set them up initially with Yahoo groups and partly so
I know where my email address has been lifted from if I get junk mail.

Soooo  ... What do I have t do in Outlook so that each time
I reply t a message that is say from ukha_d@xxxxxxx it makes
sure that I use the correct account and/or that it sets my return
address correctly (tivo@xxxxxxx) ? - otherwise UKHA bounces it.

Can I als set this up on a folder basis eg if I have a pic
folder that I file all my emails in can I force a return address of
say pic@xxxxxxx when I reply t any email in that folder ?

I don't seem t be able to find any rules t apply just
before sending a message , or the ability to associate a return
address with a contact or a rule t a folder.

I know I can select the account to send from at the time I
send it but that has t be done manually & is a pain & I always
forget !

      Kevin

PS: Possibly the last post from Eudora !
