Title: Message
If you look at the pictures showing how I have constructed it http://www.jstarkie.co.uk/ go to the automation page then controling pc.

I have put the electronics in a 9 way to RJ45 enclosure, that way the IR part can plug into a cat 5 outlet (in line of sight of IR remote) and the other end will go to a cat 5 outlet and then with a patch lead into your PC, the PC may be in another room. I have not done any testing on the distance yet but hope to make up a huge extension for test purposes shortly.

If you want any further info let me know

But it's on the connector, which is presumably plugged in the back of PC. Does it work when it's plugged there, or you need to use extension cable to bring it in front where it's in line of sight of IR remote.

I followed a link posted some time ago on this group

http://www.cesko.host.sk/girderplugin.htm

Software to drive the circuit was also posted on this group

www.girder.nl

I made the circuit for a couple of pound and it controls Winamp &
Musicmatch a treat. I had some extra thoughts on building the device and
distributing the signal via CAT5, I have taken some pictures and put
them on my humble website ?

Just click on the automation link when the index page loads
