Hi James,
Thanks James, I think that you are correct in that there is something more
=
fundamental amiss.
I've done a little bit more digging:
When I initially start Speech the heartbeat is:
xap-hbeat
{
v=3D12
hop=3D1
uid=3DFF234500
class=3Dxap-hbeat.alive
source=3Dmi4.speech.ahsmediaserver
port=3D3639
interval=3D60
}
xFx Hub was already running though and netstat -abnp UDP reports:

note the 2 entries for Speech?
When a malformed UDP packet is received by xFx I get the following in the

"ersp.xfxe.Hub ERROR Hub message loop socket exception (MessageSize):

followed by:
"ersp.xfxe.Hub ERROR Failed to bind receive socket to 192.168.1.9:3639

.....repeating over and over, xFx disappears from Viewer and other

Hi,
There are no global overrides to control the intranet ocx beyond what the=
app in question tells it to do. So you will need to refer to each app and =
see what settings it has.
However I wonder if something else is going on. Firstly Speech doesn't us=
e the intranetocx which makes me think something a little more fundamental
=
is happening. Secondly both Speech and the OCX only have one function
each=
that binds to a network card and the only time that is called is when the=
app starts up or when the ocx is initialised.
If you have viewer running on a different PC can you monitor theses apps =
and see if the port reported in the heartbeat header changes, that might
he=
lp pointing towards what is going on!
Thanks
James

Hi,
Is there a way to prevent xAP Intranet apps from grabbing the hub port?
Specifically, what I'm seeing is that occassionaly the xFx Hub will rec=
eive=20
a badly formed UDP packet that seems to make it drop it's socket for a =
few=20
seconds.
It will recover fine, unless a xAP Intranet app sends a xAP message out=
=20
while the xFx Hub hasn't bound to the port. It seems that the act of=20
sending a xAP message out makes the xAP Intranet app bind to the port a=
nd=20
then the xFx Hub can't bind to it.
I'm seeing this with xAP Speech, xAP Blue, xAP Current Cost, etc.
Thanks for any pointers,
